Welcome to my website.

Old Testament Scholar Matthew Schlimm
Since childhood, I have been passionate about the Bible. It's quite remarkable: for centuries, the church has claimed it's the very word of God. Yet, when we read its texts carefully, it's not at all what we expect. From creation to scandals to violence, the Bible surprises us.

The Old Testament, in particular, is fascinating. Throughout history, the Old Testament has shocked, disturbed, and even disgusted many of its readers. Yet, if we stick with it, we're often deeply rewarded by what we find in its texts.

On this website, I share about my books, other publications, research interests, and a little about myself.  There are also companion pieces to my latest books.  Have a look around, and thanks for stopping by.
